I’m slowly taking steps towards selling some of my crafts. I’m not a hundred per cent sure this is what I want to do, so I’m taking it slowly and giving lots of time for my gut to intercede.
The first step has been reading The Handmade Marketplace by Kari Chapin. This made me quite excited about the prospect of adding “designer maker” to my portfolio of skills and personal brand.
The second has been to start thinking about branding and identity, and sketching out a provisional logo based in part on one of my tattoos.
On Friday evening, I decided to get back to the root of why I was doing this and spend an evening mucking around with beads and creating something.
The result was ten pairs of safety pin and bead earrings, like the ones partly assembled in the above photo. I also had a much calmer brain after a few hours making and listening to music.
